Do dating apps work if you are over 50?

The short answer

They work, and the competition is often weaker than at 30 because fewer people in this bracket put real effort into a profile. The two things that decide it are current photos and stated intent.

Photos are the usual failure

The most common problem by far is a photo set that is five to ten years old. It does not read as younger. It reads as inaccurate, and it makes the first meeting start badly.

Get four to six current photos. A friend, a phone, good outdoor light, one afternoon. This outperforms every paid feature.

Say what you want

Ambiguity is read very differently at 50 than at 25. A profile that does not say what it wants reads as undecided, and people screening for seriousness skip it.

One plain sentence does the work, and costs you only the people who were never a fit.

On the smaller pool

The local pool is thinner, so distribution genuinely matters more here than at other ages. This is one of the few cases where paying for reach is defensible - once the profile is good.

Fixed the profile and still nothing? Sometimes it is the pool, not the photos - the same profile does different numbers on different apps. See which app suits you
