The app matters less than people hope. What decides it is whether the app has enough local people in your age range, and whether your profile says what you actually want.
Volume beats features at this age. An app with a thin local user base cannot be fixed by a subscription.

Intent is legible and people screen for it. At 25 an ambiguous profile is normal; at 45 it reads as someone who has not decided what they want, and that is a common reason for being passed over.
Say it plainly. 'Looking for something serious' costs you the people who were never going to work anyway.
The most common problem is a photo set that is three to eight years old. It does not read as younger. It reads as inaccurate, and it makes the first meeting awkward before it starts.
Current photos, in current glasses, with current hair. This is worth more than any premium tier.
Divorce, widowhood, or a decade out is more common on these apps than it looks from the outside, and it is not a disadvantage to disclose. It is context, and context is what most profiles are missing.
It also tends to filter hard for people who want the same thing, which is the whole game.
