Almost always one of three things: your profile was recently edited, you have run out of local people who have not already seen you, or your swiping pattern changed and the app has started showing you to fewer people. A sudden drop is far more often exhaustion of your local pool than a punishment.
The version people fear - being secretly banned - is real but rare, and it looks different: matches do not slow down, they stop completely and stay stopped for weeks.

Every major dating app re-tests a profile after an edit. Change your lead photo, your bio, or your age range and you are put back in front of a fresh sample to see how people react. If the new photo performs worse than the old one, distribution falls within a day or two.
This is the easiest cause to test. Put back exactly what was there before the drop, change nothing else, and wait four days. If matches recover, the edit was the cause and you now know which photo was carrying your profile.
This is the most common cause and the least discussed. In a town rather than a city, an active account can see most of the local pool inside a few weeks. After that you are shown only new arrivals, which is a trickle rather than a stream.
Two signs point at this: your queue starts repeating people you have already passed on, or widening your distance setting by twenty miles immediately produces matches again. Neither of those happens when the problem is your profile.
Swiping right on nearly everyone, quickly, in long sessions, is the pattern the apps most reliably down-rank. It reads as indiscriminate, and being shown to fewer people is the direct consequence. If you went on a right-swiping spree the week before things dried up, that is a likelier explanation than any conspiracy.
The fix is slow and boring: swipe less, swipe pickier, and give it two weeks. There is no reset button and paying for one does not exist, whatever the app is selling you that week.
Do not delete and re-create the account. On most apps a new account made from the same phone, number or payment method is recognised and inherits the old one's standing, and you lose your matches and history for nothing.
Do not buy a boost to diagnose the problem. A boost shows your profile to more people for half an hour; if the profile is what is failing, you have paid to have it rejected faster.
