Why do I get no matches on Facebook Dating?

The short answer

Two causes account for most of it, and neither is about your photos. Facebook Dating has a much smaller active pool than Tinder or Hinge in most areas, and it builds your profile from your Facebook account - so a thin or long-unused Facebook account produces a thin dating profile automatically.

Check the pool and the source account before rewriting anything.

It is a smaller pool, and that is geographic

Facebook Dating is a section inside an app most people did not install to date. In smaller towns the active pool can be a fraction of what the same postcode shows on Tinder.

Widen the distance setting further than you would elsewhere. The number that is normal on Hinge is often too tight here.

Your profile is inherited, not written

Photos, age, education and interests are pulled from your Facebook profile. If those photos are old, tagged group shots from years ago, or simply the two pictures you happen to have uploaded, that is what people are being shown.

Add photos to the dating profile directly rather than accepting the inherited set. This is the single largest fix available here and most people never look at it.

Location and settings drift

Facebook Dating takes location from the Facebook app, and it can be stale - stuck on a city you have left, or on a place you visited. A profile shown to the wrong city gets no matches for reasons that have nothing to do with the profile.

Open the app's location setting and confirm it, rather than assuming it followed you.

Then the usual things

After that the ordinary rules apply and they apply the same way: a solo, well-lit lead photo, a full-body shot, and a bio with one specific in it rather than a list of categories.

If those are already true and the pool is genuinely small, this is not the app to fix - it is the app to supplement.

Fixed the profile and still nothing? Sometimes it is the pool, not the photos - the same profile does different numbers on different apps. See which app suits you
