Paying for Hinge buys you more likes to send and more visibility into who liked you. It does not make a weak profile perform - it makes whatever your profile already does happen faster and more often.
So the honest test is simple. If your current likes convert into conversations at a decent rate, paying multiplies something that works. If they do not, you are paying to show more people the same profile.

Hinge+ mainly removes the daily like limit and lets you filter harder. HingeX adds priority placement in other people's queues and a better-sorted list of the people who liked you.
Priority placement is the one with real mechanical value, because on Hinge being seen at all is the scarce resource. It is also the one most easily wasted: being shown to more people only helps if the profile holds up when they arrive.
It is worth it when you already get likes and your problem is volume or speed - a thin local pool, a narrow set of filters you genuinely need, or a schedule where you want dates sooner rather than over months.
It is also reasonable as a short, deliberate burst. One paid month, used properly, teaches you more than six free ones drifting.
If you get very few likes now, more exposure to the same photos produces more of the same result, and costs money to find that out. Fix the lead photo and the prompts first - that is free, and it changes the rate, which is the number everything else multiplies.
The order matters. Improve the conversion, then buy the volume.
