How do I know if my dating profile is bad?

The short answer

Look at where it breaks. No matches means the photos. Matches but no conversation means the prompts. Conversation but no dates means the ask. Each has a different fix and they do not substitute.

The three-question check

Do you get matches? If not, the problem is your first photo, almost regardless of what else is true.

Do matches reply to you? If not, your prompts give them nothing to reply to, or your opener transfers all the work.

Do conversations turn into plans? If not, nobody is asking, or the ask is too large.

The hardest part to self-assess

You cannot see your own photos the way a stranger does. You know which one is you in the group shot, you know the story behind the hat, and you know what you look like in motion.

This is the single strongest argument for having someone else look at it - preferably someone with no stake in your feelings.
