Usually they decided during the date and were polite until the end. A date that felt good to you can be a clear no to them without anything visibly going wrong - warmth is not the same as attraction, and most people will not say so to your face.
The two behaviours that most often turn a maybe into silence are talking far more than listening, and getting heavy too early: exes, money, health, or how much you want a relationship.

Because there is no script for it. Telling a pleasant stranger you felt nothing is genuinely awkward, and silence costs them nothing while honesty risks an argument.
It is unkind and it is not personal. The same person will do it to the next three people they meet.
Roughly what share of the talking was yours? If you cannot remember three specific things they told you about themselves, it was too much.
Did you ask anything that came from what they said, rather than from your list? Following up on someone's actual answer is the single strongest signal of interest there is.
Was the date too long? Three hours with a stranger produces a stretch that neither of you enjoyed, and that stretch is what they remember.
Send one message, early, saying one specific thing you enjoyed and proposing something concrete. Not 'had a nice time' - 'still thinking about your terrible opinion on [thing], are you free Thursday?'
If nothing comes back within a couple of days, that is the answer. Do not send a second, and do not send the message asking why. Nobody has ever received a useful reply to that one.
A pattern of good dates followed by silence usually means the date itself is where it goes wrong, not the profile or the messaging - which is actually good news, because it is the part you get to practise.
Shorter dates, more listening, and one concrete follow-up will move it further than anything you change online.
