Vagueness feels safe because nothing in it can be judged. But nothing in it can be liked either, and a stranger has nothing to reply to.
One specific, slightly odd, true detail will do more than a paragraph of careful generalities.
Pick something short with a natural end and something to do - coffee, a walk, an exhibition. Open-ended dinner with a stranger is the hardest possible format and there is no rule saying you must start there.
Three or four conversations at a time, not twenty. Depth is where you have the advantage; matching the pace of someone running thirty threads is not a competition worth entering.
